New Pilates Instructor, Jamie Simes, Joins Evolve Byron Bay!

With Fran on maternity leave we have been very fortunate to add a new instructor to the team, Jamie Simes .

Jamie is a fully qualified Polestar Pilates Studio Practitioner with extensive training in anatomy, functional movement, and rehabilitation-focused Pilates. Since completing the Polestar Comprehensive Studio course and diploma, he has worked in New Zealand and Canada, teaching a wide range of clients — from older adults recovering from hip replacements to young athletes — in both group and private settings.

Trained across all Pilates apparatus including Reformer, Mat, Trapeze Table, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, and Wunda Chair, Jamie specializes in designing individualized 12-week programs that address diverse goals and conditions and is committed to ongoing professional development, with advanced training in scoliosis, functional movement, cueing, and postural analysis.

We caught up with Jamie to ask some more about his back ground and interests.

Tell us a bit about your background, where you are from and how you
came to Byron Bay?

I’m originally from New Zealand and have spent the last few years teaching Pilates in both New Zealand and Canada. I’ve worked with so many different people — from older adults recovering from surgeries to young athletes wanting to move better and feel stronger. I recently moved to Byron Bay to enjoy a slower pace of life, be closer to the ocean, and join a community that really values health and well-being.

What are you passionate about with Pilates and Rehabilitation?
Because I’ve been through my own rehab journey, I know how powerful it can be to feel safe yet challenged while moving. I’m passionate about helping people discover new ways of moving that they might not have thought possible — whether that’s recovering from an injury, managing pain, or building a solid base for athletic training. I’ve worked in clinical Pilates for the past five years and I’m still amazed every day at how much the Pilates method can improve someone’s wellbeing and physical capacity. I truly believe Pilates is not only a fantastic tool for rehab but also the perfect foundation for building strength, mobility, and athletic ability.

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of teaching Pilates?
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me in the surf or training in jiu jitsu — or just spending as much time outdoors as I can. I love staying active and learning new ways to move. I’m also currently studying to become a personal trainer so I can keep expanding how I help people feel strong, capable, and confident in their bodies.

Currently Jamie Facilitates Classes Tues, Thurs mornings and we are looking to expand his schedule at Evolve. Please let us know if there is a time block you would like to see added. You can book Online or Call the Clinic on 0416749746.
