Meet Maëlle Jamme – Our New Physiotherapist at Evolve

Tell us a bit about your background, where you’re from, and the journey that led you to Byron Bay.

I grew up in the countryside of Belgium, spending most of my childhood as a gymnast — and, honestly, a frequent visitor to physiotherapy after all the injuries that came with it! That’s what first sparked my interest in the human body, recovery, and ultimately led me to study Physiotherapy at university.

During my time at uni, I discovered running, swimming, and cycling, which naturally drew me toward triathlon and deepened my passion for movement. I had plans to travel after graduating, but COVID had other ideas, so I worked as a physiotherapist in Europe until the world opened up again.

As soon as borders reopened, I flew to South America, where I fell in love with surfing — a passion that eventually brought me to Australia, chasing waves and new adventures. I spent a few months in the Whitsundays teaching yoga and watersports before settling in Byron Bay and completing my certification to practise as an Australian Physiotherapist.

What are you passionate about in Physiotherapy?

For me, physiotherapy is about helping people understand and trust their bodies again. I’m passionate about movement in all its forms — from injury recovery and sports performance to overall well-being.

I love exploring how physical and mental health connect, and how lifestyle choices such as exercise, nutrition, and mindset can completely transform someone’s quality of life.

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of work?

Anything that gets me moving or outdoors — surfing, running, hitting the gym, or discovering new sports. I love staying active and learning new skills, but I also value slowing down through yoga, art, or spending time in nature.

Surfing especially keeps me grounded and reminds me why I fell in love with movement in the first place.

Maëlle is available for bookings on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
